This is a great opportunity to work alongside a passionate team that is committed to ensuring the voice of all tāngata who use health and disability services in Aotearoa New Zealand is heard.  As Māori Practice Lead you will support the development of Māori cultural capability across the National Advocacy Trust enabling our service to improve how we support tāngata, whānau, disabled people and kaumātua.  To enable us to do this, you will provide coaching to leaders and teams to help embed culturally grounded practices across our service.

About Us

We are a free and independent health and disability advocacy service for all people in Aotearoa New Zealand.  Our service is about empowering people to speak up about their health and/or disability experience under the Code of Health & Disability Services Consumers’ Rights (The Code).  Our advocates build relationships with communities across the motu, so people are informed about the Code, their Rights and importantly how to raise concerns and explore solutions that support the resolution of their concerns and in turn, improve service experience for all tāngata.

About You

You will bring a deep knowledge of Te Ao Māori and previous experience in leading cultural capability building.  You will have strong relationship building skills and collaborative approach when engaging both internally and externally; ideally you will have experience and understanding of the health and disability sector.  You will be a skilled influencer, working from a strengths and empowerment perspective that embeds knowledge.  You will have experience in delivering cultural change and supporting services to deliver improved outcomes for Māori.
